Richard Leesungbok
Prof. Dr. Richard Leesungbok is a course director as full-time professor (1993 - present) of Human Occlusion and Oral Rehabilitation, Removable Partial Prosthodontics, and Advanced/Clinical Implant Dentistry in the Department of Prosthodontics at Kyung Hee University School of Dentistry, Seoul, South Korea. He is Head Professor in the Department of Biomaterials & Prosthodontics, also the director of the Center of Implant & Dental Remodeling, and an immediate past-president of Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital in Gangdong, Seoul, South Korea. His specialties are in the areas of implant dentistry, removable prosthodontics, maxillofacial prosthodontics, and human jaw function & occlusion. He is a board member of the IRPMD (International Research Project for Magnetic Dentistry), and has been an ITI Fellow since 2001. From 2017 to 2020 he was the Chair of the ITI Section Korea. He studied at Ohu University (1991-1992) in Koriyama, Japan as an invited scholarship researcher and at Nippon Dental University in Niigata, Japan as a visiting associate professor in 1994. From 1997 to 1999 he was a visiting associate professor at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, Boston, USA when Prof. H.P. Weber was the chair of the Department of Biomaterials Science & Restorative Dentistry. His research focuses on the utilization of magnets in clinical dentistry and on the study of magnetic effects on bone formation around dental implants. Over the past 25 years, he has given more than 300 lectures at different professional and scientific meetings/courses and universities both in Korea and throughout the world, including the ITI World Symposium, EAO (European Academy of Osseointegration) and IADR (International Association of Dental Research). He was awarded “The Best Education Director on Magnetic Dentistry” and “Silver Award of The Excellent Thesis on Magnetic Dentistry” at the International Symposium of IRPMD, Shanghai, China in 2002. He was named “2018 The Best Doctor of Implant Dentistry” by EBS-TV in Korea.
