Lisa J.A. Heitz-Mayfield
Prof. Lisa JA Heitz-Mayfield, BDS (Adel), MDSc (Lund), Odont Dr (Lund) has a Masters in Periodontology (1996) and Odont Dr (PhD) (1998) from Lund University, Sweden. She was awarded a Brånemark Scholarship at the Brånemark Center, Malmo, Sweden and an ITI Scholarship at the University of Bern, Switzerland where she became Head of the Oral Microbiology Research Laboratory from 1999 - 2003. In 2002, she received the André Schroeder Research Prize in Implant Dentistry. From 2013 – 2021, Prof. Heitz-Mayfield was the Chair of the ITI Research Committee as well as a member of the ITI Board of Directors. In 2022, she was awarded an Honorary ITI Fellowship. Current positions include Adjunct Professor at the International Research Collaborative, The University of Western Australia, Professor at The University of Sydney, and Guest Professor at the University of Bern and the University of Shanghai as well as board member of the Osteology Foundation. Prof. Heitz-Mayfield is the Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Oral Implants Research. She has published extensively in the fields of periodontal regeneration and management of peri-implant diseases. As a specialist in periodontology, Prof. Heitz-Mayfield maintains a private practice limited to periodontology and implant surgery with an emphasis on regeneration, prevention and comprehensive treatment planning.
