Sven Mühlemann
Dr. med. dent. Sven Mühlemann is a Senior Teaching and Research Assistant at the Clinic of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Material Sciences. He is an ITI Fellow, board member of the Swiss Society of Implantology and member of the Junior Committee of the European Association of Osseointegration. He has a specialist title in Reconstructive Dentistry from the Swiss Society of Prosthodontics. His current work focuses on clinical research, teaching and clinical practice for all phases of implant dentistry and prosthodontics.

Different design configurations may be possible for implant-supported prostheses in the edentulous posterior maxilla. The most appropriate prosthesis design is selected according to the clinical condition. Prosthetic planning allows for the selection of the appropriate number of implants and for their appropriate design and dimensions.

Dental implants have proven to be a successful treatment option in fully and partially edentulous patients, rendering long-term functional and esthetic outcomes with peri-implant tissue stability. Apart from regenerative procedures on the level of the bone, an optimization of the peri-implant soft tissues is desired.
