Ronaldo Barcellos De Santana
Dr. Ronaldo Barcellos De Santana, DDS, MScD, DSc is a Professor of Periodontology and Oral Implantology, director of the Periodontology Master of Science Program and Research, and Chair of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology at Temple University, Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, USA. He is a Diplomate & Board Certified in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the American Board of Periodontology, an ITI Fellow and former Education Delegate and Communications Officer of the ITI Brazilian Section as well as a member of several important international associations in dentistry. He received his DDS and a Master of Science in Implantology in Brazil and earned a Doctor of Science degree, an advanced Certificate in Periodontology and a post-doctoral fellowship in oral biology/periodontology at Boston University, Boston, USA. During his career, he has worked with colleagues at respected institutions in North America and Europe. Dr. Santana is not only a clinician and an educator, with several teaching awards for excellence, he is also a scholar with multiple awards for his clinical and scientific achievements. His research focus includes novel growth factors for periodontal regeneration as well as cutting-edge transdisciplinary research in diabetes and biomaterials. To support these efforts, he has maintained continued extramural funding since the late nineties. He has published more than sixty original articles in high-impact refereed international journals and has nine published book chapters. He has lectured extensively internationally on the topics of periodontal esthetics and regeneration, advanced implantology and regenerative medicine.
