Nadine Brodala
Dr. Nadine Brodala received her D.D.S. and Dr. med. dent. degrees from the Dental School at Philipps-Universität Marburg in Germany. She spent several years in private practice and then completed her postgraduate training in periodontology and implantology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA.
She began her professional career in the U.S. as a faculty member in the Department of Periodontology at UNC, where she trained many residents and served as their Clinical Director. She was also the Director of the Implant Scholarship (granted by the International Team of Implantology – ITI) during her tenure at UNC. For the past 11 years she has been practicing in private practice in Chicago, USA.
Dr. Brodala is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an ITI Fellow. She also holds membership in many national and international dental organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, and DGP (German Academy of Periodontology).
She nationally and internationally lectures on new concepts and advances in implantology and periodontology. She has published in peer-reviewed dental journals and has authored a book chapter on the clinical applications of piezoelectric surgery.

A crucial component of this team approach is collaboration with other dental specialties to achieve the best possible outcome for our patients.

Therefore, the need to provide implant education to dental students is paramount. The purpose of this paper was to describe the journey of implant programs at dental schools on several continents.
