Matheus L. Oliveira
Prof. Dr. Matheus L. Oliveira has been a full-time Associate Professor and researcher at the University of Campinas, Piracicaba Dental School (FOP/Unicamp), Brazil, since 2015. He currently serves as the coordinator of the postgraduate program in Oral Radiology at FOP/Unicamp. His primary research interests focus on cone-beam computed tomography, artifact reduction, and digital imaging.

While CBCT imaging has revolutionized dental implant planning and evaluation, it still faces significant challenges from artifacts, particularly those caused by metal implants. This review explores the potential of artificial intelligence for artifact reduction and enhanced image quality, which, despite being in its early stages with limited evidence of clinical impact, aims to improve diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning and patient outcomes.
