Markus Hürzeler
Prof. Dr. med. dent. Markus Hürzeler studied dentistry in Zurich and maintains a private practice focused on periodontics and implant dentistry in Munich. He is Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Freiburg and the University of Texas in Houston. He has published more than 100 scientific publications and is a regular national and international lecturer in the field of implants, periodontology and tissue regeneration.

A key factor in this context is the loss of bundle bone in the area of the buccal bone lamella after tooth extraction. To preserve the buccal bone and the periodontal ligament in the facial area, the “socket shield” technique for implant bed preparation was developed, where part of the root is retained.
