Dr. Cortino Sukotjo is a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry. Dr. Sukotjo received his DDS from Indonesia, Ph.D from UCLA, certificate in prosthodontics and MMSc from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Sukotjo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and has co-authored more than 115 peer-reviewed articles.

Implant dentistry has become a predictable treatment to restore esthetics, form and oral function. The placement and restoration of dental implants has increased significantly worldwide. Therefore, the need to provide implant education to dental students is paramount. The purpose of this paper was to describe the journey of implant programs at dental schools on several continents.
