Bjoern Menze
Prof. Dr. Bjoern Menze is a computer scientist specializing in biomedical image analysis and a professor in the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine at the University of Zurich. Previously, he held a professorship in the Department of Informatics at TU München (W3 level), served as a Rudolf Moessbauer Tenure Track Professor at the TUM Institute for Advanced Study (W2 level), and was a guest professor at Maastricht University. His postdoctoral experience includes research roles in the Asclepios team at Inria Sophia-Antipolis, the Computer Vision Lab at ETH Zurich, the CSAIL Medical Vision Group at MIT, the Department of Anthropology at Harvard University, and the Surgical Planning Lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He earned his PhD from Heidelberg University in 2007. Prof. Menze has organized workshops at leading conferences, including MICCAI, ISBI, NeurIPS, and CVPR, focusing on medical computer vision and neuroimage processing. He has served as guest editor for “Medical Image Analysis”, a program committee member for MICCAI, and a member of the editorial board of “Medical Image Analysis”. His research contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Medical Image Analysis Award for Best Paper at MICCAI 2014 and the Young Scientist Publication Impact Award at MICCAI 2015. He also served as General Chair of the Medical Imaging and Deep Learning (MIDL) Conference in 2022.
