Otto Zuhr
Dr. med. dent. Otto Zuhr studied dentistry at the University of Aachen. He is in professional partnership with Markus Hürzeler and presently holds an assistant professorship position in the department of periodontology at the University of Frankfurt. He was a board member of the German Society of Periodontology. His book “Plastic Esthetic Periodontal and Implant Surgery” was published by Quintessence in 2012.

A key factor in this context is the loss of bundle bone in the area of the buccal bone lamella after tooth extraction. To preserve the buccal bone and the periodontal ligament in the facial area, the “socket shield” technique for implant bed preparation was developed, where part of the root is retained.
