Tara Aghaloo
Prof. Dr. Tara Aghaloo is a Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, California. She received her DDS from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, MD and PhD and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at UCLA. Prof. Aghaloo has been an ITI Fellow since 2014 and was a member of the ITI Research Committee (2015-2023) as well as a member at large of the ITI Board of Directors (2021 - 2023). Her main research areas include hard and soft tissue regeneration, implant dentistry, and osteonecrosis of the jaws. She has lectured nationally and internationally and has >140 peer-reviewed publications.

Group 1 of the 7th ITI Consensus Conference was tasked with delivering a consensus report and statements that included clinical recommendations, recommendations for future research and reflections on patient perspectives for two themes: the effect of buccal bone wall thickness (BBT) on vertical bone loss and stability of the peri-implant hard and soft tissues following implant placement in healed ridges, and the outcomes of soft tissue augmentation (STA) around implant sites.
